Everything you need to know, without the jargon
You certainly can! From your dashboard, go to the Domains page and click Check New at the bottom. Type in the domain name you'd like and we'll check if it's available.
If it's taken, we'll suggest alternatives — different extensions or similar names. Once you find one you like, choose your registration period (1-10 years), set up payment, fill in the contact details, and you're done. The whole process takes just a few minutes.
Your new domain can be connected to your TecNut website straight away, or you can do that later.
Head to your Settings page (click the gear icon in the dashboard navigation).
To change your email: Click Change Email, enter your new email address, and we'll send a verification code to the new address. Enter the code to confirm the change.
To change your password: Click Change Password, enter your current password and your new one (twice to confirm), then save. Your new password must be at least 8 characters.
You can also update your personal details (name, address, phone) and manage your payment cards from the same page.
If you've got auto-renewal turned on (which we recommend), you don't need to do anything — we'll charge your card on file and renew it automatically before it expires.
To check your auto-renewal setting, go to your Domains page, click Manage on the domain, and look for the Auto-Renewal section. Green means auto-renew is on. Red means it's set to expire — you'll need to renew manually.
Important: Auto-renewal only works if you have a valid primary payment card on your account. If your card has expired, update it in your Account Settings.
For external domains (registered with another provider), renewal is handled by your current registrar — not by us.
If a payment fails — usually because a card has expired or the bank declined the charge — here's what happens:
To fix it: Update your payment card. For suspended websites, go to your Websites page, click Settings, and use the Pay Now button to settle the outstanding amount. Your site will come back online straight away.
If you're having trouble, open a support ticket and we'll help sort it out.
DNS records tell the internet where to send visitors, emails, and other traffic for your domain. Think of them as a phonebook entry — they match your domain name to the right server address.
If your domain is registered through TecNut and connected to a TecNut website, you probably don't need to change anything — we set it up for you.
You might need to edit DNS records if you want to:
You can manage DNS records from your domain's management page — click Manage on the domain, then look for the DNS link. If your domain is external (registered elsewhere), you'll need to manage DNS at your current registrar instead.
Not sure what to change? Open a support ticket with the details of what you're trying to set up and we'll help you get it right.
